Liyema Hogana

School: Past Scholar - Simon’s Town Lawhill Maritime Centre, 2020 – 2022

Liyema Hogana started at Simon’s Town High School Lawhill Maritime Centre (“Lawhill”) at the beginning of his Grade 10 year in 2020. Liyema is originally from KwaNobuhle in the Eastern Cape.

Liyema found the move to boarding school significant but he enjoyed the experience. ‘Lawhill is like one big family – the learners, especially the seniors, and staff were incredible in the way in which they made you feel welcome and assisted with the adaptation to the new circumstances’’ says Liyema.

Liyema matriculated at the end of 2022, and he is currently completing the second year of a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
